City First Enterprise's website was generic and felt like "just another nonprofit website"

City First Enterprises is an organization dedicated to economic justice. They invest in people and places historically overlooked by mainstream finance. When they approached me I'll be honest: after looking at their website and reading about their mission, they seemed like a dry financial institution. But when I met their team I was enchanted. They are enthusiastic, talented and committed to social justice. Now we just needed to figure out how to make sure that came through in their brand.

Although they are a nonprofit, they didn't want their website to treat their potential customers like "service recipients". They wanted to use the same approach that for-profit businesses take: making the customer experience primary.

We worked closely together to create a modern website centered their stakeholders, just like businesses center their customers

During our initial meeting, I was inspired by the staff's passion and commitment to social justice using the tool of financing. As they put it "we aren't the loudest voice, but we put our money where our mouth is and are actually doing the work". Although they are a nonprofit, they didn't want their website to treat their potential customers like "service recipients". They wanted to use the same approach that for-profit businesses take: making the customer experience primary.

Building on their desire to learn from the for-profit world and treat their brand with the same seriousness and savvy, I created a website that streamlines the user's experience, anticipates their questions and concerns, and puts stories of their customers front and center.

Our mission when creating the site was to learn from the for-profit world and center the client experience at every step in their online journey.
